Company Profile:
Nanoforce Technology Limited is a company set up through the Micro and Nanotechnology (MNT) funding from the Department of Trade and Industry and the London Development Authority to exploit and disseminate nano technology to creative industries and beyond. Nanoforce is based on the campus of Queen Mary, University of London and benefits from a vast array of established expertise in the field of nano science.
Nanoforce is located in a purpose-built facility providing of lab space equipped with up-to-date processing, analytical and physical testing equipment to undertake product research and development.
Our major activities are focused on the application of nano technology to films, fibres, textile and ceramics. |
Products / services:
A unique powder sintering technique has just been established in the UK. The Field Assisted sintering Technique (FAST, also commonly known as Spark Plasma Sintering, SPS) facility is now operating at Nanoforce, a spin-off company from The Centre for Materials Research at Queen Mary University of London. The technique will enable new and novel materials to be fabricated. The technique is capable of rapid heating (up to 500°C /minute) and rapid densification (typically less than 5 minutes). This opens up the possibility of producing materials with microstructures and properties that can not be achieved using conventional sintering techniques. For example, nanopowders can be densified to produce nanomaterials. It can also be used to produce metastable composites, materials that would normally react to form different phases using conventional sintering techniques. Nanoforce is working with several UK companies to develop electrically conductive ceramic - carbon nanotube composites. These materials have all the benefits of structural ceramics, but with improved mechanical properties and functionality.

Company Profile:
NanoSight was founded by Technical Director Bob Carr, following more than 15 years experience in particle characterisation at Porton Down.
|
Products / services:
We have developed a unique instrument to view and analyse nanoparticles in liquids.
HALO permits viewing and analysis of particles as small as 15 nanometres, in real time and with minimal preparation. Detailed particle sizing comes from measuring diffusion speed of individual particles, giving a uniquely valuable result. The view provided allows observation of a range of real-tie events, for example agglomeration and dissolution.
HALO provides rapid results and is low cost.
Please do not hesitate to call us; we are always happy to discuss this exciting capability.
