Cookson Precious Metals Become PowdermatriX 100th Member
Cookson Precious Metals of Birmingham has signed up to become the
100th member of PowdermatriX, the Faraday Partnership for the powder
processing sector. PowdermatriX, which only started in October 2002,
has experienced enormous success recruiting members from a wide range
of industrial sectors who use powders in their products and processes.
Cookson Precious Metals are part of the international materials technology
group, Cookson Plc. Speaking about joining PowdermatriX, Cookson Technical
Director, Peter Rotherham said “PowdermatriX offers real benefits
for our business because powders are used in the manufacture of our
products. We are keen to explore a wider range of process techniques
- one of which is rapid manufacturing for low volume products. We are
also keen to discover more about the capabilities of nano-powders and
will be using the PowdermatriX interest groups to keep in touch with
the latest developments”.

The PowdermatriX Faraday Partnership is building a network of companies,
intermediate organisations and universities to help firms interested
in powder processing. The initial targets are the advanced ceramics,
powder metallurgy, magnetic materials and hardmetals sectors.
PowdermatriX activities include collaborative research projects emphasising
industry need, technical workshops and meetings and technology brokerage.
